Extra Voicework Services

This page is for anything where I’m not actively doing the voicing. There’s a whole world of disciplines to discover that support the actual speaking bit of voicework. As usual, everything in every industry is far more complicated than we could ever-y imagine.

Another little menu below so you can jump right to the relevant section.

Bilingual/Localisation Oversight

Bridging the gap between English (UK), and English (US) on a voiceover script, most often. Loose definition of “bilingual”, I know, I know.

The process can be either live, or offline. Line or offline. Live or offlive.

Live involves being part of a recording session as it happens, in-call, and giving direction on the script to the voice talent.

Offline means a script pops up in my inbox. I review it for anything that sounds a little odd. I annotate my thoughts in a non-destructive manner. I send an invoice.

Quicker. Cleaner. Easier, perhaps? One less voice on the directed session call, true. But definitely less precise, as it’s always better to tailor a script’s “sound” to the voice that’s being used.

Let’s name-drop some worked-with companies here. Cadbury’s (now US-owned, I’ve overseen things both ways), Panasonic, Amazon, Samsung. There, that should be enough.

Casting

Simply, I can help you find voices for your projects. I don’t have an extensive roster though and would be recommending my friends in the industry (because I can’t know everyone), so ideally I’d help you trawl through a list of faceless agency demos.

What I bring to the table is a more “go on, give this person a go” energy. Some of my favourite performances have come from people that I believe were cast by a director with this kind of outlook.

An interesting performance is so often superior to a flawless performance.

Actually, every single demo on this website was written by me, apart from of course the Audiobook samples. The few showcased above are just what I deemed to cover the most ground, as they’re light years apart in terms of target audience.

So, do have a snoop around this site and see what you stumble across, it’s all my Scriptwriting portfolio.

I bloody love writing.

There’s only so many hours of speaking that one can do in a day, and my energy ebbs and flows like any other creature. Similarly, talking into a mic needs a quiet and comfortable room, harder than it sounds in the middle of summer. Fan on – comfortable, but loud. Fan off – instantly sweltering, though now quiet.

With writing I just need my pen and paper. Delightful.
